Introduction. This contract must be entered into by all students attending a course at the sailing school, regardless of age. A breach of this contract will result in an official warning being given. A second breach, or any breach involving criminal behaviour, will result in expulsion from the school and the forfeit of any fees paid. The sailing school administrator will be the final arbiter in any dispute.

Safety. Your safety is of paramount importance to us. You must follow the directions given by your instructor at all times. You must obey the following rules:

  1. All students are to complete an induction meeting with the school administrator and a swimming test before their first lesson.
  2. All students are to wear a properly fitted life jacket or buoyancy aid at all times whilst on the water.
  3. All students must use sun-block cream and wear a suitable hat when on the water.
  4. All students are to inform their instructor of any injury or ailment before the start of every lesson.
  5. All students are to inform their instructor of any injury or ailment sustained at the end of every lesson. Where injury is sustained as a result of an accident or where injury is more than minor, an incident report must be completed by the student and instructor.
  6. All students must sign the disclaimer document before their first lesson.
  7. All students must refrain from playing on the jetties, yachts and slipways. This includes diving, jumping, climbing and fishing.
  8. All students must refrain from interfering with property belonging to TTSA.
  9. All students must take care of sailing school equipment entrusted to them. Equipment must be returned to its appropriate place in a clean and serviceable condition. All damage must be reported to your instructor.
  10. All students must refrain from using the swimming pool unless authorised by their instructor.

TTSA. The sailing school operates at TTSA premises. TTSA is a members club and participation in sailing school lessons does not bring with it the privilege of membership. Adult students who are not members of TTSA are not allowed to purchase alcohol at the bar. Students under the age of 18 years are allowed to purchase soft drinks from the bar, but must not consume them or loiter in the bar area. Cars must not be parked inside the TTSA compound. Membership of TTSA is available via the office.

Child Protection Policy. TTSA and TTYSS operates a Child Protection Policy (CPP) to enable children and vulnerable adults to enjoy sailing in a safe environment. Our CPP document can be viewed in the sailing school office. All students can expect to be treated with respect and have their achievements celebrated. The first point of contact for any child protection matter is the sailing school administrator, who is a trained child safe-guarder. The following rules must be observed:

  1. All students must refrain from bullying behaviour towards others. Bullying is the use of verbal or physical aggression with the intention of hurting another person either physically or emotionally. The assault of any person will not be tolerated, is criminal behaviour and will be reported to the police where appropriate.
  2. All students must treat others with respect and not make undue disturbances or noise.
  3. All students must refrain from using inappropriate language. Such behaviour will be challenged by instructors.
  4. All Students may report any concerns to the school administrator.
  5. AA parental consent form must be signed by a parent or guardian for all students under the age of 16 years.

General. All students are asked to help keep our environment clean and safe:

  1. All students must dispose of litter in the appropriate bins provided.
  2. All students must not dispose of litter or pollutants of any kind into the sea.
  3. All students must report any pollution of the sea to an instructor immediately.
  4. All students must dry themselves off before entering the washrooms.
  5. All students have a responsibility for their own health and safety. Report anything you see that is un-safe to an instructor immediately.
